YFF classes will be from 6:15 – 7:15 pm on Wednesday nights. The first session will be Wednesday, September 5th.
On the 1st Wednesday of every month there will be an opportunity for parents to gather in the Church at 6:15pm for Adult Faith Formation. For those you that have been to one of the Theology on Tap events this summer, it won’t quite be like that, but Father Dole or another speaker will present on an aspect of our faith which all the kids in YFF will be covering that month. Our hope is that this time will make you feel even more confident in talking with and answering questions your kids might be coming home with.
Youth Group will now take place after regular YFF from 7:30 – 8:30pm and will be for 9th – 12th graders. Youth Group is a program that is in addition to YFF and there is no additional fee for high schoolers to attend. New YFF Handbook. Please take the time to read through this as I, along with Father Dole and the Faith Formation Commission worked very hard in putting it together piece by piece. There are several new polices that will be put into place and enforced. Knowing what these are will only be a benefit to you and your children.
A few key points from the handbook that are new from last year.
Pick-up will no longer be in the Church. All students can be picked up in the lunchroom at 7:15. Kindergarten – 3rd will remain with the Catechist until a parent, sibling or another trusted adult comes to get them.
No cell phones or other electronic devices will be allowed in the classroom. Catechist will collect these before class begins and will have a safe place to store them until class is over. Also, no food, gum or beverages in the classroom, please do not send your child with a snack to eat during class.
An official Discipline Policy. From the survey that some of you may have taken in the spring this was one area that most people thought needed improvement. I will let you read the details of that (page 5). Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this.
The Parent/Student Covenant is handout # 1 (on pink paper). This needs to be read by you and your children, signed and returned.
The Calendar for the year is the last sheet. Please find a good place to hang this up at home. The Calendar will also be posted on our Facebook page and on the link above.
